What an interior repaint actually involves
Most of the value in an interior repaint sits in the parts nobody sees once the job is done. Paint is the last few hours of a job that is mostly preparation — filling, sanding, sealing, cutting in and protecting everything that isn't being painted.
That is the difference the finish shows a year later. A wall that was patched properly and sealed before topcoats stays flat and even. One that was rolled over quickly will telegraph every filled hole and every join once the light hits it from the side.
Interiors also behave differently room by room. Bathrooms, laundries and kitchens carry moisture and need coatings suited to it. Ceilings show roller marks more than any other surface. Trim, doors and architraves take the most wear and are usually the first thing to look tired in an otherwise fresh room.

Gold Coast and Sydney interiors
We service the Gold Coast region in Queensland and all Sydney metropolitan areas — Eastern Suburbs, Northern Beaches, Inner West and everywhere in between.
The two markets throw up different interiors. Gold Coast apartments and coastal homes deal with humidity year-round, which affects drying times and makes ventilation during the job matter more than most people expect. Sydney's older housing stock — Federation, Californian bungalow, semi-detached terraces — brings plaster and lath, decorative cornices and previously painted timber that all need reading before a brush comes out.
Painting Lab holds a QBCC licence in Queensland (15303073) and a NSW contractor licence (463965C).
What it costs
Interior painting is priced on the surface area to be covered, the condition of what's already there, and how much preparation and access the job needs. A recently painted wall in sound condition takes far less work than one with water damage, gloss enamel trim or a dark colour that needs covering.
The quote calculator gives an indicative range in a couple of minutes. A firm price follows a site measure, so nothing moves once the job is booked.
How the job runs
- Step 1
Initial consultation
We look at the rooms, the surfaces and their condition, and talk through what you want the finished result to be.
- Step 2
Personalised quote
A written quote with a detailed breakdown, so you can see what is included rather than a single number.
- Step 3
The work
Furniture and floors protected, preparation done properly, then coats applied. A quality checkpoint system keeps the standard consistent through the job.
- Step 4
Finishing touches
A walk-through at the end, any touch-ups attended to, and the site left clean.
